About Us

Rob Thomson
Rob became a partner at Thomson Financial in 1995, managing the agency since 2003. He specializes in employee benefits while assisting clients in both sales and service. Rob serves on the advisory council with ConnectiCare Inc. and works closely with local Chamber of Commerce’s to develop their health insurance programs. He is also a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters and Connecticut Benefit Brokers.

Rob Thomson is a graduate of Southington High School and Syracuse University. He served as captain of their football team his senior year as well as being named team MVP and Scholar Athlete. Following college, he had a brief stint with the New England Patriots. He joined a Travelers subsidiary, Bankers & Shippers Insurance Company, for the next three years. With Bankers & Shippers, he held the position of Senior Territory Manager that included working with over 400 insurance agencies throughout New England. He was responsible for marketing and agency development with their Property & Casualty products. His background of agency management was natural fit for Thomson Financial Services along with a strong working knowledge of insurance.

He is a former Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Greater Southington Chamber of Commerce where he also chaired the Apple Harvest Festival. Rob was the former head football coach at Bristol Central High School and currently coaches at Southington High. Rob and his wife Patty reside in Southington with their two sons Matt and Sam.

Tina Barbeau
Tina joined Thomson Financial in 1998 providing client service and assisting customers with claim issues. She obtained her insurance license in 2004 and added sales to her list of services. Tina is involved with the Connecticut Benefit Brokers and NAHU. She also attends many carrier education events to remain current with the industry.

She started off her career at Ames Corporate in IT and ended as a Merchandising Distributor. She worked at Ames for five years and then entered the insurance industry in 1992 with Cigna Health Care. At Cigna she worked as a Customer Service Representative in their RxPrime area. In 1993, she went to ConnectiCare Inc. where upon leaving worked as a Large Group Representative. Tina’s career at ConnectiCare consisted of attending open enrollment meetings where she needed a vast knowledge of ConnectiCare’s insurance products, sales support, and help with resolving client issues.

Tina is a graduate of Conard High School in West Hartford, Morse School of Business, and Tunxis Community College. She resides in West Hartford with her husband Jim and two children.
